Hazardous bulbs: experts about the risk of infection

 Hazardous bulbs: experts about the risk of infection Energy-saving lamps - a topical theme. They talk about them, write and argue. Moreover, they are often afraid, because the lamps involved are extremely dangerous to human health. So should we be afraid? And what exactly?

Almost two years ago in Europe, it was decided to stop using the incandescent lamp and mat and go to energy-saving lamps . This decision was taken to save energy and protect the environment. Plain classic light bulb has very low energy - only 10%, the rest is converted into heat. Mass replacement of traditional incandescent bulbs, according to experts, will save 5-10 billion. Euros per year, and fee Energy consumption for a typical European family will be reduced by 50-150 euros per year.

Russia is also trying to introduce energy-saving technologies and gradually withdraw from the use of conventional, replacing them with energy-saving lamps. But now overshadow the disturbing rumors. Energy-saving lamps, according to various sources, can harm our health.

In particular, German researchers have argued that the broken energy saving lamp emits unacceptably high levels of mercury. Some researchers suggest that these lamps emit a substantial amount of ultraviolet radiation, useful only in small doses. In addition, it proves that they are a danger to children and pregnant women.

However, there are other details, according to which the danger of the new bulbs is clearly exaggerated. Researchers estimate that in Russia the residential sector of the most energy-efficient light bulbs - only 0, 03%. And in general, the Electric Light industry accounts for about 4% of the mercury consumed in Russia every year. In one of its bulb contains about 3mg, 50 million energy-saving light bulbs - 150 kg of mercury. That is, the scale does not catastrophic.

But opponents of energy-saving lamps there is another compelling argument. According to them, Russia is practically no system of recycling hazardous waste such as mercury-containing lamps, and lamps of harmful deposits will simply poison the air.

Protectors lamps, in turn, show that this is not a problem. System utilization in Russia there is simply ill-informed people. Energy-saving lamps require special disposal. As in Europe, where the budget when buying lamps, the buyer receives a certificate, on which he will hand blown items back to the store, where he had gone for recycling. Of course, in Russian stores of this practice, and they have not heard, but it is still necessary to wonder who in your city receives the scrap exhaust their energy-saving lamps. And pay attention! Lamps neon lights in cars also contain mercury. They are engaged in recycling of organizations performing services of this very illumination. They are obliged to accept end-of-term neon lights for free.

Attention! If the lamp burns out ...

- Before taking its disposal should be placed in a plastic bag and tie it tightly;

- If the energy-saving lamp be leaking in the room, you must treat the place where the fallen fragments of the lamp, ferric chloride, and after eetogo collect all the pieces of shattered lamps and placed in a sturdy plastic bag.
