Tropical paradise located in the Botanical Garden of Moscow State University "Apothecary Garden» c 24 December 2011 to 18 March 2012. This is the third exhibition in the Palm House after its reconstruction.
Guests Orchid Festival will be able to see not only orchids, but also hundreds of other flowering and decorative foliage plants. From curiosities will be presented the fruits of cocoa, coffee, pineapple, pepper, avocado.
For young spectators Winter Orchid Festival a collection of carnivorous plants: Venus flycatchers, rosyanok, kuvshinochnikov and other "predators" of the vegetable kingdom. These plants demonstrate the sophisticated tools to catch and digest small insects and sometimes rodents. However, feeding them it is prohibited in winter the plants need a special diet.
But, of course, the center of attention - luxury Orchid - The largest family of the plant kingdom. The lion's share of the variety of colors inhabit the tropics, where every year botany open 100-200 new species. The flowers of some plants reflect reflection of light, the other - sometimes the most unexpected exude scents (incense, dust, naphthalene, etc.).
