Contraceptives reduce libido

Contraceptives reduce libido Sexual dysfunction in women is most often explained by a decrease in sexual desire. Scientists from the University of Heidelberg have discovered a link between hormonal contraceptives and low libido. Previously, science had already put forward the hypothesis about the effects of contraceptives on libido, and in particular the long-term impact of tablets on the sexual life of young girls.

"Sexual problems have a negative impact on quality of life, and the psycho-emotional state, - says researcher Dr. Lisa-Maria Vellveyner. - Female sexual dysfunction are found in two out of five members of the fairer sex. The most common complaint - low sexual attraction ".

In the study, researchers recruited 1,086 women volunteers, who maintained sexual activity during the last month. They were asked to complete a questionnaire designed to identify issues of sexuality. Answers then compared with the type of Contraceptives to that used by women.

It was found that hormonal contraceptives cause is the persistent decrease in sexual desire. Especially compared to those ladies who prefer to ask their partners to use condoms. Scientists believe that this is due to the influence of agents contained in the tablets on the hormonal environment in the body of women, which has an adverse effect on the libido.
