Probably few of us thinks, what Scouring better. Usually buy large package of sponges suitable shape - one side is soft, the second - abrasive. And used as needed. But this simple and everyday objects have special application rules.
- Shelf life. After the first time you washed the dishes with a new sponge, be sure to put it to dry in a dry place. Otherwise, it is just 6 - 8:00 "heal" unsafe bacteria that may later prove to be on your dinner plates or teacups.
- In any case, no Scouring should not be used longer than 5 - 7 consecutive days. Because it makes sense to buy the cheapest, but also change them as often as possible.
- So-called "soap" Scouring (pieces of hard foam, pre-soaked in a solution of soap) should not be used for tableware. They are intended for washing of metal items: pans, pots, bowls.
- Foam sponge with metal abrasive surface can only be used for aluminum and cast iron cookware without non-stick coating.
- If the sponge after some detergent changed color - it should be immediately discarded.
Is there an alternative foam sponge? Of course yes. Ordinary glass, ceramic and porcelain dishes with much greater success can be washed with a small towel or cloth from the cloth business. But natural sea sponges, which many body wash, dish absolutely no good: in the organic sponge bacteria multiply much faster than synthetic.
But the most secure material for dishwashing sanitary doctors explicitly called foam rubber. Its large pores microbes uncomfortable, it does not react with the detergents, and can therefore serve us much longer.
By the way, do not believe that the sponge washed with chlorine-containing substances, becomes a "like new": on the contrary, after contact with chlorine foam quickly collapses, loses its elasticity and comes into complete disrepair.
